TRAMA_

Il film è basato sul saggio storico scritto da Mark Bowden Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War e pubblicato per la prima volta negli Stati Uniti d'America nel febbraio 1999. Il libro è stato pubblicato lo stesso anno in Italia da Rizzoli con il titolo Falco nero.

1992: anni di guerra civile e carestia in Somalia hanno portato ad una catastrofe di proporzioni bibliche: 300.000 morti fra i civili. La forza internazionale scende in campo per mettere fine a questo genocidio.

1993: gli Stati Uniti inviano la Delta Force, i Rangers e il 160° SOAR per catturare il più potente signore della guerra, Mohamed Farrah Aidid. La missione doveva durare tre settimane ed alla sesta settimana Washington è impaziente.

Il 3 ottobre il comando americano decide di intraprendere un raid per catturare i ministri di Aidid. Il piano era sconosciuto alle autorità internazionali e a Washington. L'azione doveva durare trenta minuti: si tratta di circondare un edificio al centro di Mogadiscio che è zona sotto il controllo militare di Aidid tramite i Black Hawk che faranno scendere i Rangers in quattro punti intorno ad esso, mentre gli operatori della Delta Force arrestano tutti quelli dentro l'edificio. Il raid si deve concludere quando la colonna di Jeep del Ten. Col. McKnight in attesa entra nel quartiere e preleva tutti.

Lo sbarco dei Rangers comincia male per il Sergente Eversmann: il soldato Todd Blackburn cade dall'elicottero mentre è intento a scendere con la corda. Eversmann è costretto a portare subito Blackburn all'edificio obiettivo e poi ritornare in postazione. Ma le cose si mettono male quando un Black Hawk di Wolkott viene abbattuto. Eversmann e i suoi devono andare sul luogo dell'impatto per soccorrere i caduti lasciando due uomini in posizione in attesa delle Jeep. Tutti i Rangers confluiranno sul luogo d'impatto.

Purtroppo le Jeep dovrebbero andare ancora a riprendere i feriti del Black Hawk, ma la città è ormai in stato di guerra ed è fallito l'effetto sorpresa. Il gruppo di Eversmann riesce ad arrivare al punto d'impatto in attesa dell'elicottero dei soccorsi.

Il cap. Steele e gli altri invece sono in difficoltà e non riusciranno ad arrivare al luogo d'impatto. La colonna di jeep dopo vari tentativi non riesce a raggiungere il luogo d'impatto e, per i troppi feriti, deve rientrare alla base. Anche il Black Hawk di Durant viene abbattuto ed egli è l'unico a sopravvivere alla caduta. Dal loro elicottero due snipers (cecchini) della Delta, Shughart e Gordon, si prestano volontari e scendono a terra per coprire il Black Hawk. Moriranno nell'impresa mentre Durant sarà catturato.

I Rangers e i Delta sono costretti così a passare la notte in Mogadiscio. Eversmann vedrà morire un suo uomo ferito gravemente ad una gamba (Smith). Il comando dovrà chiedere aiuto ai pakistani che dispongono di mezzi blindati, ed alla fine di una notte di combattimenti, verranno tutti evacuati.

L'azione che doveva durare trenta minuti durerà quindici ore e costerà la vita a 19 soldati americani e più di mille somali. I Sergenti della Delta Force Gary Gordon e Randy Shughart saranno i primi soldati americani a ricevere la medaglia d'onore dopo la fine della guerra del Vietnam. Michael Durant verrà rilasciato undici giorni dopo la cattura.

Due settimane dopo il presidente Bill Clinton ritirerà le truppe dalla Somalia. Il generale Garrison si assumerà tutta la responsabilità del fallito raid e nel 1996, quando Aidid viene ucciso a Mogadiscio, il generale si ritira dal servizio attivo.

Steele: Pretty funny, hoo-ah?

Per una volta, voglio parlare di un film italiano, che racconta la guerra degli Italiani: "EL ALAMEIN - La Linea del fuoco" di Enzo Monteleone (2oo2), roba che definire un capolavoro è dir poco.

Senza retorica, ma sicuramente con grande poesia e crudezza, racconta in un tono piano la battaglia di El Alamein, vista con gli occhi dei soldati italiani.
La storia ci viene raccontata dalla voce di Serra, giovanissimo volontario universitario. Il film, per la prima metà, avanza con un ritmo lento, si familiarizza con la vita nella trincea, con la luce accecante del deserto e gli spazi immensi, con l'apparente assurdità dell'esistenza quotidiana al fronte, che qualche volta diventa surreale, altre volte quasi poetica.

Il mio personaggio preferito è il Sergente Rizzo, un uomo semplice, che arriva dalla montagna e ha radicati in sè un senso dell'onore e una dignità che non sono figli della propaganda, ma sono valori veri che lui esprime con parole semplici, come:
- "E essere prigioniero per un soldato non è bello, è una non vita...";
- "Noi siamo come sassi, di qua non ci muoviamo, né avanti né indietro, gli Inglesi non passano."

Poi, in una notte di luna piena c'è l'attacco: gli Inglesi dilagano come una marea, i carri schiacciano gli uomini nelle buche, inizialmente gli Italiani riescono a ostacolare l'avanzata inglese con delle bombe incendiare, un'azione disperata, ma alla fine gli Inglesi sfondano.
E' la prima sconfitta subita dall'Asse dall'inizio della guerra, una sconfitta che muterà le sorti del Secondo Conflitto Mondiale, il Mediterraneo è perduto.


La battaglia di El Alamein (distante 100 Km da Alessandria d'Egitto) avvenne tra il 23 Ottobre 1942 e il 4 Novembre 1942 e vide opporsi:
- 80.000 tra Italiani e Tedeschi, con 200 carri armati e 345 aerei,
- 230.000 Inglesi, con 1000 carri e 1000 aerei, agli ordini del Generale Montgomery.
Il rapporto era di 1/3 a favore degli Inglesi.

Le divisioni italiane erano così schierate:
- a Nord, la "Trento", la "Bologna" e la "Brescia",
- a Sud, la "Folgore" e la "Pavia".

Montgomery finse di raggruppare uomini e mezzi a Sud, in realtà stava ammassando le forze a Nord (che nascose con l'aiuto di uno scenografo cinematografico e di un illusionista, addirittura!), Rommel che era al comando dell'Afrika Korps fu tratto in inganno.

Alle 21,40 del 23 Ottobre 1942, in una notte di luna piena, Montgomery sfonda al centro del settore Nord, dove era schierata la divisione italiana "Trento" (Montgomery ritenne questo il punto migliore in cui sferrare l'attacco, poiché gli Italiani era malearmati rispetto ai Tedeschi).
La battaglia si conclude il 4 Novembre. Sul campo sono rimasti:
- 17.000 Italiani,
- 9.000 Tedeschi,
- 13.500 Inglesi.

Ai 70.000 superstiti dell'Asse restano 3.400 Km nel deserto da coprire, prima di raggiungere la Tunisia.

La divisione italiana "Ariete" venne completamente distrutta, nel tentativo disperato di tenere le proprie posizioni, la "Folgore" resistette al nemico per 13 giorni, ostacolando l'avanzata Inglese.
Alla fine della battaglia, gli Inglesi riconobbero agli Italiani il coraggio dimostrato.

È stata trasmessa negli Stati Uniti dal settembre al novembre 2001 dalla rete HBO, mentre in Italia da Rete4 dal gennaio al febbraio 2003 per poi essere replicata da Duel TV dal 22 aprile 2004 e nell'estate 2006 ancora su Rete 4. * La miniserie può essere considerata a tutti gli effetti come uno spin-off del film Salvate il soldato Ryan che aveva come regista Steven Spielberg e Tom Hanks come protagonista.
* La miniserie è tratta dalla omonima pubblicazione di Stephen Ambrose (1936-2002). Lo stesso Ambrose è autore anche di "D-Day", il libro che ha fornito lo spunto per la realizzazione del film "Salvate il soldato Ryan" di cui Ambrose ne è stato anche consulente storico. La scomparsa nel 2002 dello scrittore ha messo fine al trinomio Spielberg-Hanks-Ambrose che, visto gli ottimi lavori realizzati in sinergia, prometteva un terzo capitolo degno dei due precedenti.
* Il titolo della miniserie, e del libro dalla quale è tratta, è preso da un passo dell' Enrico V di William Shakespeare (atto IV, scena 3).
* Nell'ottava puntata compare Colin Hanks (figlio di Tom Hanks) nel ruolo di un giovane tenente appena assegnato alla Easy.

Timo, il tuo post mi ha spinta a rispolverare il cofanetto di B.O.B. e ieri sera mi sono goduta i primi 2 episodi e, mentre tutta contenta dicevo a me stessa: "Va' che bella distrazione ho trovato, così per una settimana almeno evito di rivedere a nastro 1°, 2° e 3° Stagione di SN per l'ennessima volta!" Chi ti vedo??? Lui: Richard Speight Jr. nel ruolo del Sgt. Warren 'Skip' Muck!!! Timo lo riconoscerai quando vedrai uno dei px episodi di SN. Fenice

Ma, andiamo al sodo, il passo dell'Enrico V (bellissimo) è il seguente e val la pena di postarlo:

Noi manipolo di fratelli: poiché chi oggi verserà il suo sangue con me sarà mio fratello, e per quanto umile la sua condizione, sarà da questo giorno elevata, e tanti gentiluomini ora a letto in patria si sentiranno maledetti per non essersi trovati oggi qui, e menomati nella loro virilità sentendo parlare chi ha combattuto con noi questo giorno di San Crispino!"

Il mio preferito è Winters! Rappresenta il leader perfetto per me, è un uomo dotato di etica, ha rispetto per le vite dei suoi soldati, sente il peso della responsabilità, esercita la sua autorità e sa farsi rispettare, ma non si sente al di sopra degli altri e anche quando ha paura riesce cmq a fare coraggio agli altri: memorabile il suo gesto quando si stanno imbarcando sull'aereo, lui aiuta i suoi uomini, uno per uno, ad alzarsi in piedi, un'azione che vale più di 1000 parole, un gesto che trasmette coraggio, come se dicesse "Sarò lì con voi, ad ogni passo."
Poi sa cosa siano la tattica e la strategia a differenza di Sobel, che inizialmente mi era sembrato un tipo severo che cercava di preparare gli uomini a tutto, dopo ho iniziato a sospettare che fosse un sadico stronzetto e alla fine si è rivelato ai miei occhi per quello che realmente era: incapace e infame, perché cerca di far punire Winters che aveva fatto quello che lui non era riuscito a fare! Felice che l'abbiano rispedito in patria!

- Molto bella la scelta di aprire ogni episodio con delle brevi testimonianze dei veterani, efficace per ricordare che quei fatti sono davvero accaduti, sembra una banalità, ma quando io mi lascio prendere da un prodotto televisivo realizzato così bene mi lascio andare completamente e la razionalità se ne va, e mi godo lo spettacolo, invece con B.O.B. oltre ad appassionarmi, la razionalità resta a farmi compagnia.
- Fantastica la fotografia con i colori desaturati, non dà solo una patica di "antico", ma secondo me suggerisce anche le emozioni del fronte, dove tutto sembra ridursi all'essenziale (vita/morte) e paradossalmente, nella mancanza di colore il significato delle cose appare con più nitidezza nella sua vera, scarna essenza.
- Una delle poche serie TV che vale la pena di godersi in 5.1 si sentono i proiettili volare al proprio fianco e quasi sfiorarci, il rombo degli aerei, le mitragliatrici, le esplosioni e il rumore dei carriarmati sono molto realistici e ci trascinano al fronte, nel cuore dell'azione, al punto che, ad un dato momento smetto di ripetermi "Wow, un dvd che fa lavorare a dovere il sorround!" e inizio a trovare il tutto stressante e inizio a pregare che il frastuono smetta come se per un attimo mi trovassi davvero nel teatro bellico con i soldati.
- Un'altra cosa che mi piace è lo stile documentaristico della serie, la camera che ogni tanto balla un po', le inquadrature con un punto di vista immerso nel terreno, dove si vedono piovere i proiettili, l'azione caotica che disorienta e restituisce molto bene quel senso di confusione che caratterizza le azioni belliche.

Una cosa su cui ho cambiato opinione nel tempo è questa: la prima volta che ho visto la serie ero rimasta un po' delusa dal fatto che il nemico si vedesse poco, perché delle volte avevo l'impressione che Winters e i suoi combattessero quasi contro fantasmi, è stato solo col tempo che ho realizzato che questo è un altro elemento che conferisce realismo alla serie, perché effettivamente al fronte non è che si riesca più di tanto a vedere con i proprio occhi come si stanno preparando i nemici e come si stanno organizzando.

Serie Tv- THE UNIT


The Unit, l'unità, è un organizzazione sconosciuta dell’esercito americano. Tutte le loro missioni sono segrete, e in generale tutta la loro vita è segreta. Tutti i membri provengono dall’esercito americano, e sono chiamati a svolgere missioni contro il terrorismo.

L’immediata gerarchia dell’“Unità” ha come ufficiale comandante il colonnello Tom Ryan, che risponde direttamente al Presidente degli Stati Uniti.

Alle mogli degli agenti dell'unità sono fornite le informazioni minime. Sono completamente informate del fatto che "l'unità" è un'organizzazione “inesistente” e che i loro mariti sono impegnati in missioni altamente pericolose. A loro non è consentito conoscere informazioni specifiche, come la destinazione dei loro mariti, in cosa consistono le loro procedure di addestramento, quanto tempo saranno in missione e persino se i loro mariti sono al sicuro.

Inoltre se un membro dell'unità è ucciso nell'azione, alla famiglia viene detto che è stato ucciso in una missione di addestramento. Le mogli, se ritenute sospette di parlare dell'esistenza dell'unità, possono indurre i loro mariti all’espulsione, per poi essere restituiti al servizio normale dell'esercito. Nessuno si farebbe scrupoli a rovinare e distruggere le famiglie per conservare la segretezza dell’unità.

I membri dell’unità vestono come soldati qualunque, per evitare di essere riconosciuti o di essere collegati all’esercito Americano in caso di uccisione o rapimento. Non ci sono nastrini o stelle che permettano di individuare i gradi all’interno dell’unità.

Il telefilm è quindi un mix tra vita militare, intensa e piena di suspance e la vita familiare dei soldati con un occhio particolare puntato sulle loro mogli.

Attualmente la programmazione USA è ferma all'episodio 11 della 3°stagione a causa dello sciopero degli scrittori ma è già stata annunciata la messa in onda della 4° stagione nell'autunno di quest'anno. In Italia è stata trasmessa da Rete 4 e stranamente fermata dopo la 1° stagione.
